Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts (19:00–07:30), including weekdays and weekends (3 shifts per 4-week period)
Unit: 34-bed Medical/Surgical unit with telemetry
Patient Ratio: 1:5–7
EMR System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Details & Expectations

• Attendance is critical; facility allows only 2–3 call-offs during the entire contract
• Scrubs are not provided
• Must be able to work within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Must complete all required facility-specific training and competency exams prior to start
• Must carry government-issued photo ID during working hours

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• Submit one PDF packet including:

  • Candidate profile/work history
  • Specialty-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
  • Minimum 2 clinical manager/charge nurse references from the past 2 years
  • RN license verification (must be recent)
  • Copies of all required certifications (no pending certificates allowed)
• Background checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check (covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated every contract renewal)
  • Education verification
• Health requirements:

  • Initial physical exam and annual updates confirming ability to meet job demands
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD within 1 year or equivalent) or chest X-ray if history positive
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (mandatory during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination required
  • 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Facility-specific forms and training:

  • ReadySet (RS) online health assessment surveys
  • Facility non-disclosure/confidentiality agreement
  • Badge photo per facility instructions
  • Background drug screen consent form
  • Care Learning Modules and Cerner EMR training modules (must be completed prior to orientation)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement or signed HIPAA form
• Competency exams and color blindness testing as applicable

Additional Notes

• Candidates must comply with all facility deadlines for documentation and training completion
• Proof of completion (screenshots or certificates) required for certain trainings and health assessments
• Workers Compensation documentation is preferred but not mandatory
