Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Newport News, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Day shift, 5x8 hours)
- Every third weekend required
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 recent year of home health nursing experience
- Experience with OASIS (Outcome and Assessment Information Set) documentation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Home Health setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Driving record check from state of license issuance required for Home Health positions
- Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check fingerprint results required
- Drug screen within the last 12 months (specific drug panels required)
- Physical exam within the last 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within last 12 months; if positive TB test, clearance letter signed by physician required
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity (or approved exemptions) for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or facility-specific declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (10/1–3/31) with strict deadlines for documentation or approved exemptions
- COVID vaccine series preferred; if no vaccine, facility-specific declination form required
Documentation and Facility Requirements
- Recent professional photo for badge (taken within last 6 months, meeting specific guidelines)
- Signed confidentiality agreement, scrub color policy, safety brochure, dress code policy, drug-free policy, and hand washing hygiene policy prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific safety and orientation manuals
- References: 2 professional references required
- Employment application/resume required
- Annual update of skills checklist
