Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must have ICU experience; traveler will float to ICU, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical units
• Patient ratio approximately 1:4-5
• Unit size: 21 beds
• Care includes non-titrating drips (Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, Cardene)
• Experience with vascular cases (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, post-cardiac cath with intervention
• Manage CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan (no Presidex)
• Provide care for Peritoneal Dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high flow oxygen (<80%), home ventilators (Trilogy)
• Wound care, nebulizers, and hemodialysis in the dialysis department
• Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
• Scrubs color: Royal Blue and White
• Orientation every Wednesday
• Every other week (EOW) requirement applies
• Must be willing to work within a 50-mile radius

Shift Details

• Day shift, 3 shifts per week
• 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Total 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of Stepdown experience within the last year
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Peritoneal Dialysis
• Experience with Hemodialysis in the Dialysis Department
• Experience with vascular cases including femoral-popliteal (fem-pop) and carotid endarterectomy (CEA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Additional Notes

• Floating across multiple units is mandatory
• Stable patients with non-titrating drips and various cardiac and respiratory support devices
• Facility requires strict adherence to documentation and compliance with all health and safety protocols
• Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, filters, or shadows)
• Orientation and ongoing training required as per facility policy

This position is ideal for an experienced ICU-trained Registered Nurse comfortable with floating to multiple acute care units and managing complex cardiac and respiratory patients in a travel contract setting.
