Clinical Lab Scientist (Laboratory) - Travel/Contract

Location: Whittier, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days/week, 8 hours/day

• Possible start times: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
• Weekends and holidays may be required; scheduling is negotiable

Job Summary

• Lead/Manager role in clinical laboratory with focus on blood bank
• Requires management experience and leadership responsibilities
• Must have 3 years of blood bank experience

Required Qualifications

• Valid Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) license in California
• Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) with a minimum of 3 years of experience, including experience within the last year
• ASCP-MLS certification
• Experience in Manager roles

Skills & Competencies

• Blood banking procedures including:

  • ABO/Rh typing, Antibody Screen & Identification
  • AHG Crossmatch, Electronic Crossmatch, Immediate Spin Crossmatch
  • Antigen Typing, Antibody Typing (Tube Method)
  • Direct and Indirect Coombs tests (DAT)
  • Blood irradiation, Cold Agglutinins, Cord Blood Evaluation
  • Rhogam Screening, Thawing/Cooling of Blood Products
  • Transfusion Reaction Workup
• Hospital clinical laboratory operations and management
• Patient identification processes and specimen handling (labeling, storage, disposal)
• Quality assurance, controls, and transmission-based precautions
• Reporting test results accurately

Compliance & Training Requirements

• Must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at time of application
• Facility-specific onboarding modules must be completed prior to start
• Photo ID for badge with white background required before start
• Fit mask test required if applicable, with religious exemption process available
• Harassment prevention training required (1 hour for non-supervisory roles)
• Pass/fail competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG not applicable for this role)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or equivalent training may be required if applicable to role
