Registered Nurse – CVPICU (Columbus, Ohio)

Job Overview

• Position requires floating to multiple units including NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical as needed.
• Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations and will receive appropriate assignments in these areas.

Required Qualifications

• Ohio State RN license or Compact RN license.
• Approximately 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
• Two supervisory/professional references required; one must be from a supervisor or manager (Charge RN acceptable). Peer references are not accepted.
• Current government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing (temporary IDs or paper licenses are not acceptable).
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start.
• Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including a 7-year county search and education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
• Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
• State license verification required within 30 days of start.
• Education verification required, including highest degree verification. Special approval needed if nursing diploma is not ASN/BSN.
• Required certifications:

  • ACLS (American Heart Association only)
  • BLS (American Heart Association only)
  • PALS (American Heart Association only)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU RNs
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) as applicable
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency tests required as applicable.
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year, with specific protocols for positive results. TB questionnaire required prior to start.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start (vaccine must be after age 11).
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity required via positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters. Religious exemptions not accepted.
• Hepatitis B immunity or declination required.
• Varicella immunity required via positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters.
• Annual flu vaccine required for assignments between October 31 and May 31; medical/religious exemptions require facility approval and mask-wearing during flu season.
• N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually.

Additional Requirements

• Resume or employment application required.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
• Infection control policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start (accepted in lieu of physical exam copy).
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start (agency standard), stating candidate is free of communicable diseases.
• Fingerprinting proof of submission is time sensitive and must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing.
• Fit test proof of appointment required if fit test is completed onsite.
• Candidates with approved flu vaccine exemptions must wear masks during flu season.
• Candidates undergoing a legal name change must provide proof; legal name must match all licensure and documentation.
• Address on government-issued ID must match licensure and facility records; Ohio driver’s license address must be outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to avoid being considered local.

Floating Expectations

• Floating to NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical units is mandatory.

Experience & Travel Requirements

• Approximately 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
• No explicit prior travel experience required.
