Registered Nurse - MS/Tele Float (Travel/Contract)

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Stepdown role with frequent floating to MedSurg and MS/Telemetry units. Must be comfortable working across these areas.
• Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, MedSurg 1:5-6.
• Must be willing to float frequently between units.
• Pediatric experience is not required; travelers without pediatric experience will not be assigned pediatric patients.
• Cannot live within 50 miles of the facility.
• Shift schedule includes weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Meditech.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year (minimum 1 year).
• Med Surg experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
• Criminal background check required within 30 days of start (for new candidates).
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
• NURSYS verification required for RN license.
• Facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be completed prior to start, including orientation safety manual and job description acknowledgment.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required for positive responders.
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccine series; declination form required if negative)
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required year-round.
• COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required.
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted).

Additional Requirements

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
• Performance evaluation required if previously completed assignments through any agency.
• Skills checklist and internal evaluations may be required depending on prior work history with the facility.
• Completion of approximately 81 Relias program modules prior to first shift and orientation; up to 8 hours allowed for orientation.
• Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, filters, or altered images).

Notes

• This position requires flexibility and comfort with floating between Stepdown, MedSurg, and MS/Telemetry units.
• Strict compliance with all licensing, background, health, and facility-specific documentation is mandatory.
• Candidates must be willing to work night shifts and meet the 50-mile residency restriction.
