Registered Nurse – MS/Tele Float (Travel/Contract)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Patient Population

  • 40-bed medical-surgical unit caring for adult patients (18+)
  • Patient conditions include sepsis, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, cardiac diseases, COVID-19
  • Care involves managing titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, complex wound care, post-bariatric procedures, high oxygen delivery systems, and end-of-life care
  • Team-based care delivery model with bedside RNs, LPNs, CNAs, virtual nurses, and other support staff
  • Patient-to-nurse ratios: Day shift 1:8, Night shift 1:9

Work Schedule & Floating

  • Shift option: Day shift, 4 shifts of 12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (Days: Sat & Sun; Nights: Fri & Sat)
  • Floating required frequently within scope to meet staffing needs, including potential float to multiple units and campuses
  • Units may include med-surg, neuro, trauma, observation, and specialty units

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Facility & Work Environment

  • 100% nicotine-free facility
  • Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray scrubs (facility branded) required for RNs
  • Parking available via permit (~$55/month) or daily rate (~$3 for 20 hours)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county and nationwide checks
  • Ongoing federal and state exclusion screenings (SAM, OIG) every 30 days
  • Education verification required
  • State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required within 30 days of start
  • Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required
  • Certifications as applicable: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology testing as applicable
  • Annual physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+) required
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap within last 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (measles, mumps, rubella) with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually
  • Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required
  • COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted
  • Eye exam required only for OR staff (not applicable here)
  • Annual skills checklist required
  • Two professional references from work within past 2 years required

Additional Notes

  • Locals not accepted; candidate must reside more than 100 miles from facility
  • Return to office (RTO) restrictions allow up to two weeks off, with manager discretion for additional time
  • Holiday work requirement: Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
