Pediatric CVOR Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Orange, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:30 - 19:00)

Job Description
- Work in Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Required experience in CVOR; pediatric CVOR experience preferred for pediatric cardiac cases
- Care for congenital heart and other cardiac surgery patients
- Also expected to care for general OR patients
- Float requirement: Yes, float to main OR
- Call requirement: 1-2 weekends per month, with 72 hours plus 8 additional days per month (12-24 hours/day depending on schedule)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Pediatric CVOR experience
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid photo ID (driver’s license or passport) with front and back copies, presented upon arrival
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including 7-year search and multiple verifications
- SAM/EPLS and OIG checks within 60 days of start
- Verification of highest applicable degree or diploma (transcript acceptable as placeholder)
- Primary source verification of RN license prior to start and updated every 3 months
- 2 supervisor references required (charge RN or floor supervisor acceptable)
- Verification of 2 previous employers with up to 7 years of relevant experience, completed prior to start (cannot pend)
- Unit-specific skills checklist signed and dated by employee
Health and Safety Requirements
- Negative 9-panel drug test within 60 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Fit mask testing required prior to start (cannot be completed onsite); required for specific units including OR, PICU, ED, Cath Lab, Respiratory, and others
- Tdap vaccine required (TD or Dtap not acceptable)
- TB screening: IGRA or 2-step PPD within 60 days of start; for positive TB history, additional documentation required
- Annual TB questionnaire must be completed by all travelers
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, declination, or proof of 3-shot series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (September 9 - March 31)
- In-person eye exam (Snellen or Titmus) prior to start (not required for non-clinical travelers)
- In-person Ishihara color blindness exam if applicable (not required for non-clinical travelers)
- COVID vaccines preferred but not required
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to starting on the floor; modules assigned by Friday before orientation and accessible starting Monday at 8am
- Modules take approximately 6-8 hours; must be completed by specified deadlines (e.g., by Thursday 5pm for RNs)
- Orientation includes virtual and in-person components; travelers must be local by start date for on-campus activities
- Must complete and sign facility-required documents including:
- Job description acknowledgment
- Non-disclosure agreement
- Standards of conduct packet
- Mission, vision, and values acknowledgment
- Safety reporting acknowledgment
- Dress code acknowledgment (including fingernail hygiene policy: no artificial nails, natural nails ≤ ¼ inch, fresh chip-free polish)
- AIDET acknowledgment
- Professional accountability acknowledgment (for NICU RNs if applicable)
- Pyxis access request form must be completed prior to start
- Badge photo required (professional quality, clear face, solid background)
Additional Notes
- Call and weekend coverage required as part of the schedule
- Must be available to complete pre-start modules and onboarding requirements on time
- Travel candidates will be screened before building access; badges distributed on first shift by managers
- Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be accepted
