Job Details

- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 19:00 - 7:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Unit: Respiratory Care Unit (High acuity stepdown unit)
- Patient Ratio: 3:1 Nurse Practitioner ratio, up to 4:1 depending on staffing
- Float: Required as needed
- Holidays: Required as needed
- Travel Pairs: Not considered
- Local Candidates: Considered within a 60-mile radius
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years recent critical care experience with acute and chronically ill patients requiring ventilator support
- Experience in Trauma and Neuro care is required
- Preferred experience includes Charge RN, SICU, MICU, Trauma, and Stroke
Required Qualifications
- Active Florida or Compact RN license
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA or ARC only)
- NIH Stroke Certification (must have at time of submission)
- Degree from an accredited school or approved institution by Florida Board of Nursing
- At least 2 years recent acute care experience (consecutive within past 24 months in a U.S. hospital)
- Epic electronic health record experience required
- Successful completion of Florida AHCA Level 2 background screening (including fingerprint-based state and federal criminal history checks, abuse registry review, and screening for disqualifying offenses)
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start (signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA)
- Annual fit mask test with approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or Small)
- QuantiFERON (QGOLD) TB test within 6 months or chest X-ray if prior positive
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity/declination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Two professional references from within the last 2 years (state mandated for all direct patient contact candidates)
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Completion of required online orientation modules and facility-specific training (see below)

Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge: passport-style, color photo on solid white background, head and shoulders visible, no hats or sunglasses
- Completion of Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting with clearance on file prior to start (results must be dated within 30 days of start)
- Education verification from accredited institutions or proof of 2 years acute care experience if school is not accredited
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for nursing professions except case managers)
- Color Blind Testing (annual, minimum 80% score)
- Background check within 6 months including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Travel pairs will not be considered.
- Local candidates within 60 miles are considered but at a different rate.
- Candidates must be able to float as needed and work holidays as required.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong critical care, trauma, and neuro skills who are comfortable working nights in a high-acuity respiratory care stepdown unit.
