Job Description
The medical oncology unit will consist of patients with a cancer diagnosis, medical step-down patients, and general medical overflow. The RN will have a basic knowledge of pathophysiology of cancer and will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients on this unit.
Responsibilities
- 30%: Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as per the physician's plan of care.
- 30%: Provide direct patient care, including nursing assessments, medication administration, treatments, and assisting with transfers.
- 20%: Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with team members to update/revise care plans.
- 10%: Process physician orders and perform ordered care accurately and timely.
- 10%: Follow up on medication changes and order clarifications.
Requirements
- Experience:
- 2+ years of Med Surg experience (Required)
- Oncology experience (Required)
- Travel experience (Highly Preferred)
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) (Required)
- Preferred Skills:
- Epic experience

- Work History: Must provide a skills checklist current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty.
- References: 2 supervisory reference forms taken within the last two years.
- Location Restriction: Candidates must not be local (50-mile radius restriction).
