Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - Operating Room (OR) (Days)

Location: Sault St. Marie, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (6:45 AM – 3:15 PM, 8-hour shifts; 4 days one week followed by 5 days the next; 32-hour guarantee)

Job Description

• Perform as a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room with a strong understanding of surgical procedures.
• Ensure all supplies and equipment are available, assembled correctly, and in working condition for surgical procedures.
• Confirm and assemble sterile instruments and maintain the sterile field throughout procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon’s needs and assist in maintaining accurate counts of medications, sharps, instruments, and sponges.
• Monitor sterile environment and recognize breaks in sterile technique.
• Verify items on physician preference cards and ensure accurate patient billing for supplies.
• Properly use, assemble, clean, and sterilize equipment and disposables.
• Set up sterile fields in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Experience with Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, OB/GYN, Ophthalmic, and Urology surgical cases.
• Proficient with C-Sections.
• Active NBSTSA Certification.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Work history and skills checklist relevant to Operating Room specialty, current within 1 year.
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.
• Must be comfortable with the specified shift schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior travel experience as a surgical technologist is preferred but not required.

• Facility is a Level IV Trauma Center specializing in rural medicine with a focus on high reliability and safety culture.
