Registered Nurse (RN) Outpatient / Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Role overview

• Temp day shift role in the Same Day Surgery Center.
• Mostly PACU, with need to step into the OR to assist as needed.
• Responsible for admission and discharge of surgical/procedure patients, including nursing admission assessments and Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia care.
• Unit details: 8-bay unit with up to 17 patients per day; Surgical Services department has 2 operating rooms and a procedure room.
• Patient population: Adult and Geriatric; care provided to patients ages 16 and older.
• EMR: Cerner.
• Dress code: Hospital provided scrubs.

Required qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Valid RN license in Vermont.
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience with 2 years of experience.
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year.
• Day Surgery experience.
• IV starts required.
• Must be able to prepare OR for surgery (pre-op), not just the patient for surgery.
• Experience with Cerner.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association.
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association.
• Driver's License.
• Must have own vehicle.
• Will not consider travelers who want to work in conjunction with another perm placement or travel assignment.
• Will not consider travelers requesting schedule accommodations such as block scheduling.
• Will not consider local travelers who reside within 50 miles of the facility.
• Must take call.
• Must work two holiday blocks if scheduled/needed:

  • Thanksgiving Day / Friday after and weekend after
  • Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and weekend after
  • New Year Eve through New Year Day and weekend after

Preferred

• PACU / ICU experience.
• Travel experience.

• Customer service skills.

Other details

• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation.
• Call-back, holiday, and OT multipliers: 1.25%.
• Call pay: 4/hour.
