Registered Nurse - Surgery

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 11:00 AM – 9:45 PM (4 shifts, 10 hours each)

Job Details

• May require working on holidays during the contract.
• Scrubbing skills are a plus.
• Shift times are fixed; block scheduling is not available.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Experience in Vascular Surgery
• Experience in Thoracic Surgery
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Immunization Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccine: Preferred but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted.
• MMR: Positive titers within last 15 years required; booster protocol applies if low titer.
• Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years required; booster protocol applies if low titer.
• Tdap: Vaccination within last 10 years required; no declinations accepted.
• Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titer within 15 years.
• Influenza vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct-Mar) or mask and declination forms must be completed.
• Tuberculosis testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA within last 6 months; if positive, clear chest X-ray and current TB questionnaire required.
• Fit test for N95 respirators: Completed within 1 year prior to start; cannot be done onsite.

Professional and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming ability to work without restrictions.
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including Social Security trace and county searches for last 7 years.
• Ohio fingerprinting and FBI background checks as applicable based on residency duration.
• Employment verification for last 5 years through third-party.
• Education verification through third-party; international education requires equivalency documentation.
• Competency exams and core competencies (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission) with minimum 80% passing score, completed within 1 year prior to start.
• Skills checklist specific to clinical area completed within 1 year prior to start.
• Drug screen within 60 days prior to start; 10-panel urine drug screen required (no instant tests).
• Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; annual renewal required.
• Non-expired photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required.

• Badge photo (headshot, shoulders up, plain background, JPEG format).

Additional Notes

• Attestations are generally not accepted except for fingerprinting pending results with proper documentation.
• Some requirements (e.g., background checks, competency exams) only need to be completed once upon initial hire, not annually.
• Masking and vaccination declination forms are specific and must be completed if applicable.

This position is suitable for experienced surgical RNs comfortable with long shifts and holiday work, who meet comprehensive licensure, certification, health, and compliance requirements.
