Job Description

• Position: Respiratory Care Practitioner in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Must have NICU experience

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in California
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
• Recent Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
• Experience working with neonate patients
• Proficiency in neonatal intubation

Required Credentials and Certifications (Must be completed prior to or at onboarding)

Certifications

• BLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
• PALS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
• ACLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
• NRP (American Heart Association or Red Cross; NALS also accepted for NICU, L&D, Postpartum RNs)
• DCI/BVP (Workplace Violence Prevention training)

Licenses

• Professional license verification (Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start, updated upon expiration)

Professional Requirements

• Prime CA Sexual Harassment Prevention Training (valid for 2 years)
• Prime Education Verification
• Prime Orientation Packet (optional, completed on first shift)
• Prime Core Competencies Exam (minimum 80% score)
• Prime Skills Checklist
• Prime Specialty Exam (minimum 80% score)
• Prime Criminal Background Check (National, within 1 year)
• Prime Agency Attestation (completed after all credentials uploaded)
• Prime SAM/EPLS exclusion search
• Prime Form I-9 (Employment eligibility verification)
• Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport

Personal Health History / Immunizations

• COVID-19 Vaccine: 2 doses plus booster or declination completed
• MMR: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer
• Hepatitis B: 3 doses or titers required
• Influenza Vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
• TB Test: Within 1 year of start date
• Varicella: Vaccination or titer showing immunity
• Tdap: Required (declinations not accepted in some states/facilities)
• Physical/Health Statement: Annually, must state clear to work
• Fit Test: Annual respirator fit test completed prior to start or coordinated onsite where allowed
• Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray (optional)

Drug Screening

• Prime Drug Screening: Minimum 10-panel test including THC, within 60 days of start
• For California: 10-panel urine drug screen excluding THC plus psychoactive THC saliva test

Notes

• All credentials must be current and valid at time of onboarding.
• Some trainings and tests must be completed annually.
• Orientation paperwork is provided on the first scheduled shift.
• Background checks and drug screens have specific timing requirements.
