Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Job Description

• Work in a Level 1 trauma center with 16 operating rooms, routinely running 12-14 rooms.
• Patient types include cardiac/peripheral vascular, neuro, ortho trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, and transplants. Small volume of ENT and plastic procedures.
• Expected patient ratios: 1:1
• Average caseload: 35-50 cases per day with turnovers expected in less than 20 minutes.
• Use of specialized equipment including 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma.
• Scrub or circulate preferred; scrub experience including open heart scrubbing is highly preferred.
• Weekend on-call coverage from end of shift Friday until 6:30 AM Monday.
• Floating required across multiple campuses within the system.
• EMR system: EPIC (experience within last 3 years required).

Required Qualifications

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years of current operating room experience (must have 24 months of current OR experience documented).
  • Strong and proficient experience in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery (required).
  • General surgery experience required if not assigned to cardiac cases.
  • Circulating and operating room experience required.
  • Trauma Level I experience highly preferred.
  • Additional experience highly preferred in daVinci robotics, pediatrics, trauma, neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular cases.
• Licensure:

  • Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
• Certifications:

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS certification required.
• Other Requirements:

  • Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the past 12 months (no first-time travelers).
  • Skills checklist specific to operating room nursing discipline required.
  • Professional references from within the last 24 months preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Summary
