Medical Assistant (MA) - Temp Position

Location: Caro, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, provide excellent patient care by performing or assisting with various medical procedures and tests to support patient examination and treatment. Duties include taking vital signs, administering injections and venipuncture, and assisting with clerical tasks to maintain efficient operations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Deliver service excellence by responding promptly, professionally, and courteously to patients and staff.
• Prepare exam rooms, including stocking supplies and turning on computer terminals.
• Organize forms for physicals and other procedures.
• Collaborate with providers to:

  • Collect patient history.
  • Prepare patients and necessary equipment for visits.
  • Document interventions, patient responses, medications, vital signs, etc., in patient charts or electronic systems.
  • Administer EKGs, pulmonary function tests, immunizations, medications, and draw blood as directed.
  • Obtain approval and phone in prescriptions as directed.
  • Complete lab slips and referral forms.
  • Assist with routine procedures for gynecological exams, physicals, and office visits.
• Handle telephone messages, return calls, and provide information as directed.
• Work collaboratively with all staff to ensure continuity of care.
• May schedule patient appointments as directed.
• Assist and escort patients to exam rooms and on/off exam tables as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant and receptionist.
• Medical Assistant certification (MA certificate) required.
• Current BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
