Job Overview

• Primarily outpatient setting with some acute care coverage.
• Delegates responsibilities to Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides.
• Patient-focused role involving assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation according to physical therapy standards and physician orders.
• Functions as case manager for assigned cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient function using formal and informal testing to assess skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
• Develop and update goal-specific treatment plans based on patient assessment and tolerance.
• Submit written treatment plans coordinated with physicians.
• Schedule treatments with frequency and duration tailored to patient needs and coordinate with clinical support staff.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on conditions, prognosis, treatment rationale, and home education programs.
• Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Aides, Home Health Aides, and students per regulatory standards.
• Recommend and assist in securing adaptive/supportive equipment for patients.
• Document patient responses, treatment changes, and complete billing documentation in compliance with policies and regulatory agencies.
• Demonstrate competence in treatment interventions to restore or facilitate optimal functioning.
• Promote physical therapy services within the community and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and affiliate information.
• Participate in ongoing learning and demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in Michigan
• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy or related field

  • Occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. (0-33% of workday).
  • Frequently lift or carry 20 lbs. (34-66% of workday).
  • Constantly lift or carry 10 lbs. (67-100% of workday).
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and postural changes such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Ability to move freely about the facility with or without assistive devices.
• Overall vision and hearing necessary with or without assistive devices.
• Exposure to stressful situations including trauma, grief, and death.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance, and stay alert.
• Dexterity required for handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling, often repetitively.
