Job Details

Orientation
- Held at Providence Office Park Building near Portland Medical Center
- Occurs every other Monday (specific 2025 dates provided)
- Clinicians must be willing to float to any selected Providence location within the region
- Assignment location is given 2 hours before shift confirmation
- Refusal to float is considered a late cancellation

- Providence Milwaukie Hospital (59 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital)
- Providence Portland Medical Center (420 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital)
- Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center (536 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital)
- Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center (109 beds, Short Term Acute Care)
- Providence Newberg Medical Center (60 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Level IV Trauma Center)
- Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital (25 beds, Critical Access, Level III Trauma Center)
- Providence Seaside Hospital (25 beds, Critical Access Hospital)
Requirements
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience in specialty within the last 3 years
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA only), PALS, NIH Stroke Certification
- EPIC experience required
- Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- References from Charge RNs acceptable if direct supervision was provided
- Separation policy: 3 months from staff to agency
Certifications Required (Per Diem - Providence Newberg Medical Center)
- BLS: Required for all candidates (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- ACLS: Required for ICU, ER, L&D, MS/Tele, Tele, PACU, and PCU RNs (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- PALS: Required for ER RNs, Pediatric ER, and PACU (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- NRP: Required for L&D and NICU RNs (AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society)
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ICU, ER, Tele, and PCU RNs
- Other certifications: Chemotherapy, EFM, CPI, MAB, and Tech Cert Verification as applicable (some not required for Per Diem)
Background and Compliance
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- Oregon Abuse/Neglect Search not required for Per Diem candidates (not supporting Oregon Child Center facilities)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests, no THC included)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required: TDAP, TB test or chest X-ray, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (seasonal), COVID-19 vaccine or declination
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (not required for Per Diem after 5/20/24)
- Respiratory safety clearance required for travel candidates (not required for Per Diem after 5/20/24)
Documentation and Training
- Agency badge required
- Professional passport-style photo required for badge
- Completion of Providence PD WorkRamp Core Modules and Specialty Modules as assigned (specific to Oregon and Per Diem)
- EPIC training modules must be completed within a week of orientation
- References and employment application covering at least last 5 years required
- Skills checklist required annually for applicable units
Additional Notes
- Candidates must acknowledge and comply with Providence float policy
- Candidates must be flexible to float to any selected Providence facility within the region
- Refusal to float or late cancellations may affect assignment status
