Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse
Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Unit Type: Overflow IMCU with cardiac telemetry focus
- Patient Conditions:
- Cardiac arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia)
- Cardioversion, CHF, chest pain
- Renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT
- Post cardiac catheterization, TR Bands
- Surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
- Occasional vascular, orthopedic, or CVA patient overflow
- DKA management
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5-6
- Unit Systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Comfortable managing continuous IV cardiac medications including:
- Amiodarone
- Dobutamine
- Dopamine
- Milrinone
- Nitroglycerin
- Comfortable managing diuretics such as Bumex
- Comfortable managing anticoagulants including Aggrastat, Argatroban, and Heparin
- Comfortable managing insulin drips
Work Environment & Expectations
- Floating: May float within the facility as needed within scope of practice
- Call: Rare; 2-hour response time if called
- Weekends: Typically every other weekend; travelers fill in gaps after permanent staff scheduling
- Holidays: Travelers expected to work major holidays if they fall within assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days per contract
- Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
- Compliance: Full compliance with onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback
Required Documentation & Health Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including education verification
- Education Verification: Related degree verification required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
- Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
- Drug Screen: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start; instant drug screen acceptable
- Immunizations & Titers:
- TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months; negative chest x-ray if prior positive
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend post-start if eligible
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend post-start if eligible
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- TDAP highly recommended but not required
- References: Two clinical references required
- Skills Checklist: Updated within past 12 months
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
Additional Notes
- Travelers typically do not administer Precedex; this is reserved for core staff
- Candidate clinical fit will be reviewed by clinical team before final manager decision
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Color blind testing required; alternative assessment available if needed
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable managing complex cardiac drips and arrhythmia patients in a fast-paced IMCU setting.
