Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Evening/Night shifts, 8 hours per shift
  • Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Weekend, holiday, and standby call rotations may be required depending on operational needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technician license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technician, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Certifications & Compliance Requirements

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification may be required depending on unit
  • BLS certification mandatory for clinical positions
  • Other certifications such as PALS, NRP may be required based on unit assignment
  • National certification/verification required within 30 days of start and upon expiration
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
  • Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
  • Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgments required

Background & Screening

  • Comprehensive background check within 90 days prior to start date, including SSN trace, county, nationwide, and sex offender searches
  • Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems after hire
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening required within 90 days of start
  • Education verification required for certain specialties; may require diploma or transcript if verification is difficult
  • Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam (must meet agency standard, not facility required)
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite
  • Immunizations and/or proof of immunity required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Tuberculosis (negative TB test or chest X-ray)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – 2 doses or positive titers; medical/religious exemptions considered
    • Varicella – 2 doses or positive titer; medical/religious exemptions considered
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form (required for direct patient care roles)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination (for certain departments)

Testing & Competency

  • Telemetry exams (Adult and Pediatric) required for applicable inpatient units, with strict passing criteria and remediation process
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication competency as applicable
  • Color blindness testing required for laboratory or dialysis roles

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
  • Signed acknowledgments for safety manuals and pass/fail testing
  • References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required
