Shift Details
- Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Call requirement: 90-120 hours of call over a 6-week schedule

Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Level 1 Trauma Center surgical services
- Experience with vascular and thoracic surgery cases including:
- Receiving pump lines from perfusion and preparing for cannulation
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Atherectomy
- Atrial Septal Defect Repair
- Cardiomyoplasty
- Carotid Endarterectomy
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
- Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
- Femoral popliteal bypass graft
- Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery
- Mitral valve replacement
- Pericardial window
- Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
- Heart & Lung Transplant
- Valve Replacement
- Aortic Dissection
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on the cost center (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) — verify as applicable
Licensure
- Valid state license verification required (Indiana license not accepted for new contracts starting after 9/9/2024 except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers)
Interview Availability
- Candidates must provide 2-3 days of interview availability when submitting
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including 7 years of work/living history, SSN trace, criminal checks, sex offender registry, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification by third party; official transcripts or diplomas required
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted; history not accepted
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Strongly recommended but not required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- TB testing within 1 year of start (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) with chest x-ray if positive
- Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) required
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps of 30+ days
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, compliance, confidentiality, and policy forms prior to start
- Completion of mandatory online training modules (22 modules) prior to orientation with proof of completion required
- Valid driver’s license or passport copy required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist
- CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification
Notes
- First-time travelers accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma experience
- Perioperative/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from Indiana RN license restrictions effective 11/30/2024
- On-site fit testing is limited and must be approved if used; PAPR use requires prior approval except at certain campuses where it is automatically approved
