Job Opportunity: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts (17:00 - 7:30)
Hours per Week: 48 hours

Job Description

• Work schedule options: alternating 3x12s and 4x12s every other week, or straight 4x12s.
• Float responsibilities across multiple units including CCU, ICU, NICU, ED, Med-Surg, and Recovery based on staffing needs.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend.
• Must have experience working in acute care settings.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment as a Respiratory Therapist
• Current certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years; must include social security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, federal extended, and FACIS Level 3 checks.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation.
• I9 verification required.
• State license verification within 30 days of start.
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and core competencies must be current (updated annually).
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days.
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months of start.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency).
• Immunizations and titers required or accepted with declinations/exemptions:

  • Tdap (within 10 years)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol (two-step skin test or equivalent within 3 months of start).
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) with accepted medical/religious exemptions or declinations.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start including a comprehensive panel of substances.

Additional Notes

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit assignment; CPI Blue Card accepted.
• Must adhere to employee appearance policy.
• Medication and competency exams require a minimum passing score of 80%.
