Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This is a travel/contract position in Ohio.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience within the last year.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA (Instructor or Provider) or American Red Cross; RQI acceptable. Must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for MS/Tele specialty. Must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Preferred but not required for MS/Tele.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Not required for MS/Tele.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Not required for MS/Tele.
- NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred but not required.
- Other Certifications: Pass/Fail Testing (Medication & ECG) required for all bedside RNs except OR.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months of start and updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed prior to start.
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted).
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
Documentation and Onboarding
- Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area.
- Two professional references from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
- Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) completed at orientation with passing scores required.
- Photo for badge may be required depending on assignment.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with gaps in employment or returning to the facility may have specific requirements regarding physical exams, eye exams, and onboarding modules.
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times during assignment.
- Fingerprinting must be done both through the agency and at the facility.
- Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review.
