Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg - Correctional)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg - Correctional)
Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 3pm - 11:30pm
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
Call Requirements: None
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Floating: Mandatory float within facility as needed
Scheduling Time Off (RTO): Up to 5 days max, no more than 2 consecutive; no holiday or weekend RTO; no RTO day before or after a holiday
Local Candidates: Accepted and preferred (must live within 75 miles)

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg / Telemetry experience in an acute care setting
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Correctional healthcare setting

Electronic charting system: Cerner

Required Documentation & Compliance

Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
Social Security Card
Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including SSN trace, nationwide and state checks
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
Medication test/pharmacology competency exam within 12 months of start
Color blind testing and competency exams as required
Facility-specific forms and rules of behavior must be completed
