Registered Nurse - Rehab

Location: Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in an inpatient hospital/rehabilitation setting with acute inpatient rehab patients.
  • Ability to fill in as charge nurse as needed (ACLS certification required if in charge nurse role).
  • No on-call required.
  • Patients typically stay about 14 days.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • Navy blue scrubs and close-toed shoes required.
  • Charting system: Cerner.
  • Free parking available.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Rehabilitation experience within the last year.
  • Experience in an inpatient hospital/rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience in charge nurse roles and ability to fill in as charge nurse.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS certification required if serving as charge nurse.
  • Motivated, proactive, and caring attitude.
  • Must comply with fingerprinting and background check requirements.
  • Must provide required health documents including physical exam, negative TB test or chest x-ray, immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), drug screening, and flu vaccination or facility-specific declination during flu season.
  • Flu shot is required; declinations are not accepted.
  • COVID vaccination preferred (no declination required).
  • Locals accepted.

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers accepted.
  • No floating between units.
  • RTO (Request Time Off) must be approved at time of submission; cannot be approved after offer.
  • Call-outs require more than 24 hours' notice.

  • Required documentation includes government-issued photo ID, emergency contact form, background checks, certifications, competency exams, and state-specific fingerprinting.

Certifications & Compliance

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred/required if charge nurse.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred.
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
  • Background checks including 7-year work/school history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG.
  • Drug screen within one year of start date.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Shift details provided in job order.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Inpatient rehab hospital setting with acute patients.
  • Cerner electronic charting system.
  • Navy blue scrubs and close-toed shoes required.
