Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
• Shift: Days (7 AM - 7 PM), Manager accepts either 3x12 or 4x12 shifts
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 to 1:7
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: No
• Floating: Yes, may float within scope to like units including Progressive Care Unit (PCU) as needed
• PCU Experience: Strongly preferred to support unit flexibility

Required Qualifications

• License: South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license must be active prior to start
• Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience required
• Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
• Preferred Experience:

  • Telemetry
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • PCU experience strongly preferred
• Additional Requirements:

  • Must complete all assigned orientation modules prior to start
  • Attendance at staff meetings is mandatory

Schedule & Work Environment

• Block Schedule: May request approval prior to assignment (not guaranteed)
• Local Radius: 60 miles
• Locals Accepted: Yes, with adjusted pay considerations
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Call-Out Policy: After 2 call outs without documented medical reason, contract may be canceled

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of work eligibility (I-9) and valid Driver’s License/State ID
• Social Security Card or equivalent documentation
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year history verification
  • National and state criminal checks
  • Sex offender registry
  • Excluded provider lists
• Education verification or diploma/transcripts as applicable
• NURSYS license verification
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 90 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet job demands
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titers or vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (titer or vaccines)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
• Radiation badge may be required if applicable to unit (not typical for this role)

Orientation & Onboarding

• Completion of online modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to start date
• Upload of COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system
• Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge
• Signing of facility-specific agreements including code of conduct, confidentiality, and safety codes

Additional Notes

• Must be able to float within scope to related units as needed
• Prior travel experience is mandatory; no first-time travelers accepted
• Facility may accommodate block scheduling with prior approval
• Travelers should be aware of potential emergency assignments during hurricane season (June-November)

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with prior travel assignments who are flexible and able to support multiple units including PCU.
