Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (1900-0730), 3 shifts per week (36 hours), every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
Start Date: March 9, 2026
Job Description
- Position in Labor & Delivery (Family Birthplace) unit, night shift
- Patient care includes Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum, Antenatal Testing, Triage, Induction, High-Risk pregnancies, Post-Partum Pre-eclampsia, and C-section
- Unit includes LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) with a Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU)
- Floating may be required within the specialty and sister units as needed
- On-call is not required
- Patient-to-nurse ratios vary by stage of care (e.g., Active labor 1:1, Post-partum 1:4)
Required Qualifications
- License: Maryland RN license
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not required
- STABLE, FHM, AWHONN (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced) preferred
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Work Requirements
- Weekend shifts every other weekend required
- Holiday shifts required as scheduled
- Must be able to float within specialty and sister units as needed
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel) within 30-45 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation may be requested for tracking
Background and Documentation
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Education verification for highest level of education
- Employment history verification for previous 5 years
- Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor or charge nurse
- Government-issued photo ID required
- I9 or attestation required
- Facility-specific documents and agreements must be signed prior to start
Additional Information
- Medication and competency exams required as applicable
- Color blind testing required for all candidates
- Unit-specific job description must be signed prior to start
- Facility orientation and training requirements apply
