Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (0700-1900 or 0900-2100)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirement: 4 to 5 overnight call shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Competency: Circulating nurse in the OR
  • Charting System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience (first-time travelers NOT accepted)
  • License: Active Registered Nurse license in Michigan required by start date (pending license accepted if active by start)
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
    • NIH Stroke Certification required for all RNs
  • Travel Experience: Prior travel experience is NOT required
  • Residency: Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (no local candidates accepted)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, required within 90 days of start
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
  • Physical exam required
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (T-Spots not accepted)
  • TB questionnaire required prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start (flu season October–May)

Additional Information

  • Scrub color is provided
  • COVID and flu vaccine exemptions available with proper documentation
  • Facility-specific modules (70-80 modules, approx. 8-10 hours) must be completed prior to start; paid time for completion provided
  • Photo for badge required (passport-style with solid background)
