Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with Oncology experience to work in a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Oncology unit. The role involves floating throughout the Oncology department as needed, with a 4:1 patient ratio on all shifts. The unit has an average daily census of 30 patients and 32 beds/rooms. Every other weekend work is required.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Oncology nursing experience (higher value confirmed)
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
Required Skills & Responsibilities
- Administration of chemotherapy and blood & blood products
- Accessing and managing ports
- Central line blood draws and care (including PICC lines)
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Administration of antibiotics and antiemetics
- Foley catheter insertion and management
- Isolation precautions
- Telemetry interpretation and monitoring
- Auto stem cell transplants
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
- Chemotherapy certification
- ONS/ONCC certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Must pass Relias EKG exam (Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias required)
- Competency exams including Oncology and Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (updated annually)

- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Floating required within Oncology department
Schedule
- Every other weekend required
- Ratio: 4 patients per nurse
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (quarterly)
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no declination allowed for BMT unit)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with yearly questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declination allowed in certain units including BMT)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies
- Orientation modules required through WorkRamp (approx. 16 hours) unless completed in current calendar year
Additional Requirements
- Must complete unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams annually
- Floating within Oncology department as needed
- Must adhere to facility policies including dress code, hand hygiene, and fingernail policies
- References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for an Oncology RN with at least 1 year of oncology experience. The role requires chemotherapy certification, ACLS, BLS, and passing a dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam. The nurse will float within the Oncology department and must be comfortable with a 4:1 patient ratio and every other weekend shifts.
