Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Unit: Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry
  • Floating: Required to all MS and MS/Tele units within the hospital; possible float to sister campus (~3 miles away)
  • Ratio/Census: 1:5-6
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Weekends: Every other weekend (approx. 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
  • Holidays: Must work major holidays during assignment (expectations vary based on number of holidays falling within contract)
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly schedule; full compliance required to start on time (max 7 days RTO)
  • Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for certain specialties; check if applicable
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty area (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof of processing (due within 30 days post start)
  • State License: Must be valid and verified within 30 days prior to start (Georgia RN license required)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
  • Competency Exams: Medication test, Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, ICU, etc.), color blind testing, and general competency exams required by Aya

Additional Notes

  • Floating to multiple units is mandatory
  • Must adhere to dress and professional appearance policies
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific code of conduct prior to start
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

This position requires a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry settings, comfortable floating between units, and able to work every other weekend and major holidays as assigned. Epic system proficiency is mandatory.
