Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: ICU
- Schedule:
- 3 shifts of 12 hours (3x12s), rotating days and nights
- Option for 4 shifts of 12 hours (4x12s) with overtime after 48 hours/week
- Every other weekend required
- Start Date: ASAP (dependent on EPIC experience/training)
Requirements
- Licensure: Active Virginia or Compact RN license at time of submission
- Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Flexibility: Must be willing to float to other hospital areas as needed (e.g., CVICU/CVSD, Cardiac Telemetry)
- EPIC Training:
- Clin Doc Accelerated class for RNs with 6+ months EPIC experience in past 12 months (approx. 4 hours of modules)
- Clin Doc 2 Day class for RNs with less than 6 months EPIC experience (no modules)
Vaccination & Health Requirements
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Medical or religious flu vaccine exemptions allowed with proper documentation and approval
- Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year, including assessment of ability to meet physical demands
- Fit mask test within last 12 months (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Adult TDAP vaccine required for ICU and related units
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Negative 11-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Annual TB questionnaire required
Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification
- References: 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements (e.g., confidentiality, code of ethics, dress code, parking, safety policies) must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Vendor Access Request (VAR) form completion and facility background check through HireRight required
Additional Notes
- COVID precautions may apply
- Candidate must wear both agency and facility badges at all times
- Candidate must be prepared for EPIC training modules and onsite training as required
- Float pool flexibility is mandatory
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience who are licensed in Virginia or hold a compact license and are comfortable with rotating shifts and floating within critical care units.
