Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

Job Description

  • Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
  • Directly supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
  • Conduct home visits and periodic office meetings.
  • Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
  • Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic.
  • Use of HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and Oasis EMR systems required.
  • Schedule typically Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM, with potential on-call (1 weeknight and 1 weekend per month) and weekend coverage.
  • Visits may include both patient homes and care facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Home Health experience, including experience working with adult patients
  • Experience with OASIS documentation system
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in a Home Health setting

Additional Information

  • Dress code: Scrubs.
  • No guaranteed hours; patient census may vary. If hours are low, floating to nearby clinics may be arranged.
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
  • Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate for travel between patient homes (commute to/from first and last patient is not billable).
  • On-call and weekend requirements vary; discuss during interview.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Must complete standard background checks including 7-year history, sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches.
  • Fingerprinting required as per state regulations.
  • Education verification required.
  • Drug screening (10-panel) required.
  • Health documents required: Physical exam within 12 months, negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and COVID vaccination or declination.
  • References: Two professional references required.
  • Must review and sign various compliance, confidentiality, HIPAA, and policy documents prior to start.
  • Must have personal or auto insurance policy valid and under candidate’s name or list candidate as a driver.
