Travel Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health (Psych Inpatient Unit)

Location: Southbridge, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evening (2nd Shift)
Schedule: 14:45 – 23:15 (8-hour shifts), 32-40 hours per week
Weekends: Every other weekend required

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a psychiatric inpatient unit.
• Work as part of a behavioral health team in an acute care setting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of one year of Behavioral Health nursing experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS required (mandatory for Behavioral Health units).
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS or PALS are not required for this Behavioral Health role.
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
• Competency exams as applicable by profession.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of assignment start.
• Fit mask test within the past year (3M 1860 Regular or Small mask).
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: immunity proof or 2 vaccines; boosters required if low titer. No declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: immunity proof or 2 vaccines; boosters required if low titer. No declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: immunity proof; booster or declination allowed if non-responder after two series.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within the past 10 years.
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or TSPOT) within 90 days of start; if past positive, negative chest x-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required.
• COVID-19 vaccination or facility-specific declination required; no medical exemptions accepted.
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start including Marijuana/THC; instant tests not accepted.

Background & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in MA (for tracking purposes).
• Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/school, sex offender registry, and nationwide checks.
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance attestation required.
• Two professional references within 2 years for travel or acute care roles.

Additional Information

• Facility requires completion of seasonal vaccine declinations if candidate declines flu or COVID vaccines.
• EMR system used is EPIC.
• Assignment start date is ASAP pending medical clearance.
