Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General
Location
- Santa Monica, California
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM to 5:30 PM)
- Primarily day shifts with some mid-shift and once-a-month weekend coverage
Job Description
- Position based inpatient with some outpatient responsibilities
- Requires acute care setting experience
- Must be proficient in abdominal (Abd), OB/GYN, and vascular ultrasound exams
- Experience with pediatric NICU/PICU ultrasound required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- OB/GYN ultrasound certification
- Abdominal ultrasound certification
Required Licenses
- Current and valid professional license for Ultrasound Tech in California
Required Experience
- Acute care ultrasound experience including pediatrics NICU/PICU
- Proficiency in Abd, OB/GYN, and vascular ultrasound exams
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Current and valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID
- Background check within 30 days of start including:
- Social Security Trace
- 7-year National Criminal History Search (County searches)
- National Sex Offender Search
- FACIS level 3 search including OFAC
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Education verification (Diploma or official transcripts)
- Employment application covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Work history verification for last 5 years with gap explanations
- Two professional references required (supervisor level or above, one within last year)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test (QGold) within 1 year of start; chest X-ray if applicable
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or completed vaccine series)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination within last year
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine dose received after 9/12/2023 or declination form
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
Facility-Specific Onboarding Documents and Training
- Photo for badge (clear, recent, color headshot)
- Confidentiality agreement
- HIPAA training and signed acknowledgment
- Annual OSHA education module
- Facility-specific abuse reporting acknowledgments (Elder, Child, Domestic)
- Access request form (required for Allied techs, LVNs, CNAs, Non-Clinical, Interim Leadership)
- Pyxis form (for RNs and RRTs only)
- Harassment prevention training certificate (California mandated)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Competency exams as applicable (e.g., dysrhythmia/EKG competency for certain units)
- Additional facility-specific modules such as "We Listen We Care" training
