Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Location

Odessa, Texas

Employment Type

Travel / Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

Night shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15)
Possible block scheduling of 3 shifts in a row (not guaranteed)
May consider 36/48 alternating schedule

Job Description

Provide respiratory therapy for adult medical/surgical, adult critical care, and general pediatric patients
Must have Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Texas
Minimum of 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapist experience

Additional Notes

Start date preferred within 3-5 weeks
Facility may accommodate block scheduling but no stretches longer than 3 shifts in a row guaranteed
Must comply with all facility-specific policies and annual renewals of background checks and certifications as applicable

Pros

Pro RT environment, working with the unit staff and department staff. Charting is easy cerner. If you know your job you will be fine.

Cons

Scheduling is very difficult for travelers. Full time is 3&4, weekends are alternating Saturday and Sunday. Bureaucracy issues. Housing is difficult to find and expensive due to oil city. In the NICU you are on your own not many staff or team leads crossed trained. There is some disorganization.
