Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Job Description
- Work in a high-risk, high-acuity, and fast-paced Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit with an average daily census of 15 patients and 500-600 deliveries per month.
- Float between postpartum and antepartum units; may also float to sister facilities providing Mother/Baby care.
- Function as a Baby Nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until transfer to postpartum (including eyes, thighs, assessments, and Vitamin K injections).
- Circulate in the operating rooms (4 ORs) during deliveries.
- Patient diagnoses include midwifery clients, private OBs, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinics.
- Use EPIC electronic medical records and electronic fetal monitoring.
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines.
- Schedule: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), working every other weekend and holidays as needed. Schedule posted every 6 weeks.
- Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington.
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year required.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Certification or competency in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM).
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience using Epic electronic medical records system.
Orientation
- Reduced Non-Billable Orientation (0 hours vs. standard 40 hours).
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Drug screen: 9-panel within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or declination accepted:
- TDAP (within 10 years)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B - vaccination series or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
- Fit mask testing required for travel starts (updated annually).
- State-specific background checks and searches as required by Washington law.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Must complete skills checklist annually for applicable units.
- Must comply with float policy acknowledging possible assignment to other nearby facilities.
Work Environment
- High volume, high acuity L&D unit with 31 beds and 31 rooms.
- Use of EPIC electronic health record system.
- Exposure to high-risk obstetrics and newborn care.
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
- Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
Notes
- Candidates without required certifications or experience in newborn care and circulating in OR will not be considered.
- Candidates must provide proof of all required certifications and licensure at submission.
- Clinical review and NURSYS verification are mandatory; no exceptions.
- Local candidates at other facilities may be eligible if separated for at least 3 months.
