Job Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

Required Experience and Licensure

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
  • Licensure:
    • Valid California RN license required
    • Pending California RN license accepted
    • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
    • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM, IV Certification, MAB, NIH Stroke, CPI) as applicable per clinical track or unit requirements

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
    • Includes SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide and County checks, National Sex Offender Registry, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable)
    • International background checks if candidate has lived/worked internationally in past 7 years
    • Background must be updated annually
  • Education Verification: Required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation (e.g., CES report)
  • References: Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates
  • Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually for applicable units
  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
  • Drug Testing: 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable
  • Immunizations and Health Requirements:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer, with provisions for low/equivocal titers or declination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer, with provisions for low/equivocal titers or declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection prevention measures
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates; includes virtual questionnaire reviewed by licensed healthcare professional
  • Fit Mask Testing: Required for travel candidates; must be updated annually unless valid record within 1 year exists

Training and Competency Requirements

  • Competency Exams: Required as applicable by specialty/profession
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
  • EFM Training: Required for Labor & Delivery RNs only (not applicable here unless specified)
  • Annual Regulatory Training:
    • Complete annual Workramp modules for all caregivers, including regional core, specialty-specific, and system specialty-specific modules as applicable
    • Return candidates with less than a year gap may be exempt if modules were recently completed

Additional Notes

  • Orientation: Reduced Non-Billable Orientation (0 hours vs. standard 40 hours)
  • Float Policy: May be required to float to other nearby facilities within reasonable distance
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required
  • Work History Verification: Required if exceptions to reference requirements are requested; minimum 5 years verified work history needed
