Location: Auburn, New York

Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours

Job Description

• Surgical Tech role supporting a variety of surgical procedures including but not limited to:

  • Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
  • Appendectomy
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Colon resection (Open/Laparoscopic)
  • Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical)
  • Thyroidectomy (partial/total)
  • Abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy
  • Arthroscopy
  • Closed/Open fracture reduction
  • Total hip and knee replacement
  • Gynecologic robotic surgery
  • Cystoscopy
  • Nephrectomy
  • Prostatectomy and transurethral resection of the prostate

• Local candidates within 50 miles considered.

• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application; no RTO approved after offer.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent Surgical Technologist experience.
• Experience with the following surgical procedures:

  • Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
  • Appendectomy
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Colon resection (Open/Laparoscopic)
  • Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical)
  • Thyroidectomy (partial/total)
  • Abdominal hysterectomy
  • Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy)
  • Bilateral tubal ligation
  • Dilation & Curettage
• Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NBSTSA certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
• Background checks within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Primary source verification of state license prior to start.
• Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties.
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity verification (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or physician-documented history)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine records or declination
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Required to review and sign facility-specific documents including code of conduct, patient abuse reporting, confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements, orientation packet, and automated dispensing cabinet security (for Pyxis access).
• Annual tuberculosis screening questionnaire required.
• Must provide 2 professional references within 3 years.
• Skills checklist required.
• Compliance with New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List requirements.

Additional Information

• Call-out/call-off policy: maximum 3 shifts per 13-week contract.
• Orientation includes pass/fail testing on telemetry and medication knowledge as applicable.
• Telemetry interpretation proficiency may be required depending on unit assignment.

This position is ideal for Surgical Techs with at least 1 year of recent experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in New York with day shifts.
