Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel/Contract Position
Location: San Leandro, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide evaluations and treatments in speech, language, cognitive linguistics, dysphagia, and voice.
- Perform bedside swallow evaluations and implement compensatory strategies.
- Educate patients and families.
- Experience with SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility) patients, CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident), degenerative diseases, dysarthria, dysphagia, and nervous system disorders.
- Responsible for billing and documentation.
Work Schedule
- Day shift, Monday to Friday
- 8 hours per day (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
- 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in California
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Speech-Language Pathologist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a charge clinician.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (photo ID, color, clearly visible).
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multiple criminal and sanction searches.
- Education verification confirming minimum required education.
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.
- Fit mask test within 90 days of start (specific mask models required; PAPR accepted if fit test failed).
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray updated annually.
- Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive IgG titers with booster requirements if titers are low/equivocal.
- Hepatitis B positive titer or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccinations or positive IgG titer with booster requirements if titers are low/equivocal.
- Drug testing: Oral saliva drug screen within 30 days of start (rapid tests not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required annually by November 6. Masking required during flu season regardless of vaccination status.
- Color blind exam within 90 days of start (Ishihara test accepted).
- Completion of facility-specific competencies and new employee orientation modules on the first day of work.
Additional Requirements
- Current resume including last 7 years of employment.
- Employment verification for the past 3 years.
- References as per agency requirements (not facility requirement).

- No annual renewal required for background checks by the client, but agency-specific updates may apply.
- Competencies must be completed by the end of the first day; failure to complete within 14 days results in immediate termination.
- Physical exam expiration may vary by facility location; confirm during credentialing.
- PAPR testing onsite incurs a fee if required due to failed fit test.
