Shift Details

• 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Initial duration: 8 weeks
• Department follows Alternative Work Schedule (AWS)

  • Overtime after 40 hours per week
  • Double time after 12 hours per day

Job Description

• Deliver safe, effective, and quality nursing care based on established nursing models and theories.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for labor and delivery patients.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote health and recovery.
• Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care within legal standards.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise care team members.
• Act as patient advocate to ensure informed decision-making and quality care.
• Utilize both manual and automated information systems for documentation and productivity.
• Maintain effective communication for safe patient handoffs.
• Investigate and assist in resolving complaints involving patients, physicians, and staff.
• Demonstrate safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Acute Care experience
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills
