RN - Med Surg

Role Overview

• Travel RN assignment in Decatur, Texas.
• 13-week contract.
• 36 hours per week.
• Unit has 60 beds on the 4th Floor and 5th Floor of the Main Campus.
• Med Surg Specialty on the 4th Floor and Med Surg on the 5th Floor.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas.
• Med Surg / Telemetry (1 year of experience).
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
• ACLS.
• BLS.
• NIHSS.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cardiac recognition.
• IV starts.
• Time management.

Unit Details

• Staff includes charge nurses, RNs, LVNS, PCTs, and a unit secretary when grid allows.
• Patient ratios are 5:1 on the Med Surg Specialty 4th Floor and 6:1 on the Med Surg 5th Floor.
• Equipment includes remote telemetry, capnography, Alaris IV pumps, glucometers, and dynamaps.
• EMR: Alterra (Allscripts).

Procedures / Clinical Exposure

• Abdominal procedures including chole, appy, colectomy, diagnostic procedures, paracentesis, thoracentesis, heart caths, and run offs.
• Gastric sleeves.
• Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements.
• Ortho trauma repairs for fractures.

Floating

• Mandatory float as needed to Inpatient rehab, ED, and PCU.
• Will not be assigned outside skill level or scope.

Schedule / Work Expectations

• Weekend shifts are required.
• No on call.
