Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - Labor & Delivery (L&D)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Unit Details

• Unit Type: L&D / Postpartum / Mother-Baby
• L&D Beds: 22
• OR Suites for C-Sections: 2
• Triage Beds: 7
• Postpartum Beds: 34
• Births: 8-12 per day, approximately 250 per month, 2900 per year
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios as much as possible

Patient Population / Common Diagnoses

• Labor, Cesarean sections (C/S)
• Pre-eclampsia
• IDM (Infant of Diabetic Mother)
• Various antepartum complications

Skills & Responsibilities

• RNs are required to titrate drips (oxytocin, magnesium sulfate)
• Must be able to float to Postpartum unit as needed
• RN reads their own fetal monitor strips (EFM system: GE Corometrics)
• No charge nurse assignment duties
• Surgical techs available on unit
• Neonatologist not in-house 24/7, but APPs (Advanced Practice Providers) are in-house 24/7
• Anesthesia available 24/7
• Respiratory therapy equipment not present on L&D unit

Scheduling & Work Requirements

• Self-scheduling process available, but travelers expected to fill in where needed within reason
• Weekend and holiday work required
• Call requirement: 18 hours of call every 6 weeks
• Floating to postpartum required
• Orientation: 1 shift unit/department-specific orientation
• Hospital-provided scrubs

Additional Notes

• Must be in-state for the week of orientation (even if some modules are remote)
• Radius requirement: within 60 miles with valid driver’s license submitted
