Job Opportunity: Med/Tele - K4 Nurse

Location: Lufkin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Med/Tele)
• Number of Beds: 24
• Patient Ratios: 6 patients per nurse
• Common Diagnoses: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Diabetes, Pneumonia (PNA), Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Medical/Surgical telemetry patients
• Respiratory Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow oxygen therapy patients

Certifications & Experience

• Required Certifications: BLS Certification
• Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; default to higher if conflicting (not provided here)

Skills & Responsibilities

• Must have great communication and time management skills
• RNs must be able to read telemetry strips (tele monitor techs monitor patients, but RNs interpret strips)
• Floating: Will float to all med/surg units

Staffing & Support

• Tele/Monitor Techs present on unit
• Charge Nurse, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators available
• Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) present with a ratio of 12:1

Scheduling & Work Hours

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Scheduling: Managed by manager; block scheduling not guaranteed
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays required
• Call/Standby: Not applicable

Orientation & Dress Code

• Unit/Department Orientation: Completed at Kurth Tower (all med/surg tele)
• Orientation Hours: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM, every other week
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

This position is suitable for nurses experienced in medical/surgical telemetry care who are comfortable with telemetry strip interpretation and flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays.
