PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

Location: Redding, California
Setting: Hospital-based PCU / step-down unit
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour day shifts
Hours: 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Experience managing arterial and CVP pressure lines
Experience titrating pressors
Experience with precedex
Experience with tracheostomy and stable ventilated patients

Unit Details

14-bed PCU / step-down unit
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3
Common patient types include ICU stepdown, TBI/trauma, major surgery, CEA, and sepsis
Training includes telemetry and high-risk medications

Schedule and Work Expectations

3 shifts per week
4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
Holiday coverage follows the permanent staff rotation
First to float to Tele or MedSurg
Self-scheduling is mostly available

Additional Notes

Open to first-time travelers
COVID vaccine required
Holiday RTO will be considered but is not guaranteed
Navy blue scrubs required
