Overview

• Travel RN role in a combined HVI unit with Cardio/General ICU/PCU/MedSurg patients.
• This is an ASAP need.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: nights, 12 hours.

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• 1 year of experience with this patient population
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must read and interpret tele strips
• Driver’s license required at submittal

Unit Details

• Department: CVU
• 18 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4; 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours
• Common patient population includes intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients
• Supports thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart
• Common diagnoses include Cath Lab, CVAs, CHF, A fib RVR, and other cardiac and vascular diagnoses

Schedule

• 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
• Manager schedules; no block or self-scheduling
• Every other weekend

Float Scope

• Floats to all same-level and lower-acuity units

Additional Details

• Charge nurse is present on each shift and rarely takes an assignment
• Nurse aides/patient care techs are on the unit at a ratio of 1:18
• Hospitalist and intensivist are in house 24/7; cardiology is on call after hours
• RT is in the ICU 24/7
• RNs use BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula equipment
• Navy blue scrubs
• 1–2 unit-specific orientation shifts, tailored to needs and experience
