PCU RN Travel Assignment

Overview

• Travel RN position in a hospital setting in Redding, California
• 13-week assignment
• Day shift, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Unit is a PCU / step-down critical care unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• 2–3 years of specialty experience
• Experience in ICU stepdown or PCU
• Experience with arterial and CVP pressure lines
• Experience titrating pressors
• Experience with precedex
• Experience with trach and stable vented patients
• Experience titrating drips

Schedule and Work Expectations

• 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM
• 3 shifts per week
• Weekend coverage required: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Holiday rotation with permanent staff
• Self-scheduling is mostly available
• First to float to Tele or MedSurg
• No call or standby requirement

Unit Details

• 14-bed unit
• Common patient types include stepdown patients from ICU, TBI/trauma, major surgery, CEA, and sepsis
• Common drips include precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, and levophed
• One aide is present most of the time for all 14 beds
• Unit orientation includes 1 shift on the unit

Additional Notes

• Open to first-time travelers
• Holiday time off requests will be considered but not guaranteed
• Navy blue scrubs required
• The unit is busy and emphasizes patient experience, HCAHPS, and core measures
