Position Overview

Job Description

• Work across three key surgical areas:

  1. Pre-op
  2. OR/Circulator
  3. PACU
• Must have experience and be able to function in all three areas.
• Surgical cases include General, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology (cataract surgery), and Orthopedics (1-2 times per month).
• Responsibilities include patient assessments, documentation, emotional support, patient transfers, recovery, circulating cases, instrument/equipment processing, patient preparation, assisting staff, and patient education.
• Adherence to infection control principles and departmental policies.
• Follow national standards (IAHCSMM, AORN, ASGE, ASPAN).

Work Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Shift hours: 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
• Occasional late days to complete surgical cases
• Rotational surgical call averaging 1-2 days per week and every other or every third weekend, depending on staffing

Physical and Mental Demands

• Ability to perform effectively in highly stressful situations
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with diverse individuals
• Long periods of standing and walking, heavy lifting
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, unpleasant sights/smells, and infectious diseases possible

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current Colorado licensure
• Minimum 3 years experience in Pre-op, OR, and PACU preferred
• ACLS certification required
• CNOR and scrub experience preferred

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
