Respiratory Therapist - Contract Position

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide respiratory care including standard therapy, ventilator management, protocols, blood gases, and diagnostic procedures for newborn, pediatric, and adult patients. May perform advanced skills such as neonatal resuscitation and high-frequency ventilation depending on competency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver respiratory care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Perform patient assessments and implement protocols
  • Manage arterial blood gases and both invasive and non-invasive ventilation
  • Participate in Codes and Rapid Response calls
  • Perform airway management
  • May assist with C-sections and neonatal resuscitation in Level 3 NICU if qualified
  • Potential to float to NICU unit if NICU experience and certifications are met

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care setting (higher of stated requirements)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC required
  • Nebraska state Respiratory Therapy license required
  • BLS certification (AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network) required
  • ACLS certification (AHA) required
  • PALS and NRP certifications preferred
  • Skills in arterial blood gases, ventilation management, codes, rapid response, and airway management

Schedule

  • Typically 12-hour shifts (day or night)
  • Every third weekend and holidays scheduled as needed
  • No on-call requirements

Orientation & Training

  • Unit orientation lasts 24 to 36 hours depending on experience and competency
  • Additional orientation required for NICU assignments

Additional Information

  • NICU experience preferred for floating to NICU unit
  • EPIC electronic medical record experience preferred
  • Candidates should live within 50 miles of the facility
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrub tops and medium gray scrub pants; modest shoes; neat grooming; tattoos must be covered if inappropriate
