Registered Nurse - Critical Care (ICU/Telemetry)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 52 weeks)
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Float: Between ICU and Telemetry units
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care in critical care and telemetry settings using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
- Responsible and accountable for assigned patients’ care, including hemodynamic monitoring and communication with physicians regarding clinical changes.
- Deliver patient/family education and supervise other nursing personnel while maintaining ICU standards of care.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within the last year.
- Experience in an acute care setting.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Must pass Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam and Prime Specialty Exam with a minimum score of 80%.
- Complete Prime Core Competencies Exam and Prime Skills Checklist.
- Submit updated resume reflecting recent work history.
- Provide two professional references, including at least one from a manager or direct supervisor.
- Complete background check (national, within one year).
- Provide proof of education (diploma or transcripts).
- Valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport).
- Drug screening (minimum 10-panel including THC) within 60 days of start.
- Annual respirator fit test completed prior to start (no on-site fit testing in Illinois).
- Immunization or immunity proof for:
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (3 immunizations, immune titer, or declination)
- Influenza vaccine or declination (required Nov 1 – Mar 31)
- Varicella (vaccination or immunity titer)
- Tdap (declination not accepted in some states)
- Tuberculosis (TB) test within one year of start date and annual TB questionnaire.
- Physical/health statement confirming clearance to work (completed annually).
- Social Security Card or Passport for verification.
- Submit a clear, professional badge photo (JPEG, shoulders up, plain background).
- Complete employment eligibility verification (Form I-9 or agency attestation).
- Sign current job description (within the year).
- Complete workplace violence prevention training (DCI/BVP).
- Complete onboarding education attestation prior to clearance to start.
- Submit agency attestation document after all credentials are uploaded.
Additional Notes
- Must be available to work the specified night shifts from June 11 to June 12 (initial availability).
- Float between ICU and Telemetry units as needed.
This position requires a critical care RN with at least 1 year of acute care critical care experience, appropriate certifications, and compliance with comprehensive onboarding and immunization requirements. Night shift availability and flexibility to float between ICU and telemetry are essential.
