Travel ICU RN Opportunity

Location: Paintsville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of current ICU experience. The role involves working with 1:5 to 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratios. Charge nurse experience is required, and the nurse will be expected to perform charge duties. Experience with Meditech EMR is preferred.

Required Qualifications

• License: Must have a valid Kentucky RN license or a compact RN license valid in Kentucky.
• Experience: Minimum 2+ years ICU nursing experience.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association certification required)
  • NIH Certification (required for RN specialties except OR and Psych)
• Additional Requirements:

  • Charge nurse experience required.
  • Must reside within 100 miles of the facility.
  • Ability to work a schedule of 36/48 hours over a two-week pay period.
  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly.

Preferred Experience

• Meditech EMR experience preferred.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
• Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer.
• Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination.
• Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer.
• Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (Td not accepted).
• Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work without restrictions.
• TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start. If positive PPD, proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire required.
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 1 - May 31) unless approved medical/religious exemption.

Background and Verification

• Background check within 30 days prior to start including 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, national sex offender, SAM, OIG checks.
• Employment and education verifications as required.
• Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Drug screen including multiple substances, updated annually.

Competency and Skills Verification

• Unit-specific skills checklist within one year prior to start.
• Competency exam within one year prior to start (actual documents required, no certificates).
• Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives, updated annually.

Additional Notes

• Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance.
• Ratios and schedules may fluctuate based on census and call-ins.
• Start date on job posting is the required start date.
